Run for the Son 2002

The cross is the symbol of our salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Christian Motorcyclists' Association represents motorcyclists from many different Christian denominations and walks of life. Through this event, which took place over the weekend of the 22^nd and 23^rd June 2002, we want to create an awareness of the cross, to impact our nation, and claim it back for Christ.

We want to make a difference.

In 2002 we raised £6,246 for our four charities, The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, Bible Mission International (BMI), AFRICA (Association For Reaching and Instructing Children in Africa), and Christian Motorcyclists' Association.

Matthew chapter 6, verse 24:

2001's Run For The Son was a great success. The amount raised, £7,238, was phenomenal for our very first event. The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, Chinese Ministries International, and SLEFES (Motorcycles for Sierra Leone), plus ourselves the CMA, all benefited tremendously. This event also brought about a unity within CMA, with all the branches working together. The Bible tells us that where there is unity there the Holy Spirit can work. We look forward to this year's event with excitement and faith that together we can improve upon last year's effort.

RUN FOR THE SON 2002 will support four registered charities. The following three charities will each receive 20% of the funds raised, and the remainder will go to the home mission work of the Christian Motorcyclists' Association. This year's bike run will begin from points North, South, East and West, and meet up in the centre of the country, forming a cross.

BIBLE MISSION INTERNATIONAL (BMI)

Bible Mission International has been established to supply God's Word to those parts of the world where, for whatever reason, the Scriptures are not freely available. We know that we do not have a monopoly in this work, neither are we in competition with any other agencies engaged in similar activities. We are simply trying to fill a gap and supply Bibles where they are hard to come by, or are forbidden.

We do not address theological or political issues, although individual members of BMI may be involved in these. As an organisation we restrict our activities to distribution of the Scriptures where they are needed, at all times remaining non-denominational.

We will never give up. even if a country makes distribution of the Scriptures illegal. The harder the regime, the harder we work. Because of the nature of this work there are times when we must face danger. Some members have experienced many troubles in supplying Scriptures to distant lands, but it is a joy to serve our God.

ROY CASTLE LUNG CANCER FOUNDATION

The foundation has funded and built the Roy Castle International Centre for Lung Cancer. The foundation operates and funds many different projects, such as:

Roy Castle Lung Project; annual cost £1 million.
Lung Project Mobile Research Clinic; £65,000.
Roy Castle Lung Cancer Patient Network; £75,000.
Roy Castle Lung Cancer Support Nurses; £25,000.
Roy Castle Kids Against Tobacco Smoke; £25,000.
Tobacco Awareness in Young People; £40,000 over 3 years.

The Roy Castle Foundation is making a difference.

A.F.R.I.C.A. (ASSOCIATION FOR REACHING AND INSTRUCTING CHILDREN IN AFRICA

A.F.R.I.C.A. is a UK based Christian charity helping children in six African countries to a 'future worth having'. They find sponsors here, for children there, providing shelter, food clothing, medicines, and education for the children in their own villages. In Uganda they run a feeding programme in fifteen villages, and employ teachers and housemothers to educate and care for children in this very poor area. Recently a banana plantation was established to provide food and employment, encouraging people to make a start toward becoming self supporting.

In Zambia the charity's major project for this year is to build and staff a medical clinic. In Malawi it runs a project caring for sixty babies. In Zimbabwe where the children of prison inmates often lack the basic necessities of life, the charity works to provide for them. In Kenya, having rebuilt their damaged school, it supplies primary school children with educational materials as well as food, clothing and medicines. The Christian Motorcyclists' Association were able recently to send a gift enabling a motorcycle to be purchased for a local pastor so that he could get around to his churches much easier, saving many hours of travelling on foot. The children of Africa continue to need our help.

CHRISTIAN MOTORCYCLISTS' ASSOCIATION

CMA (UK) is a home based missionary organisation which aims to be involved in every aspect of the biking world, and so we welcome people from all walks of life. CMA members are involved in many kinds of ministries, taking the Gospel to many different people; examples include prison visits and youth work, but our main aim is to reach motorcyclists for Christ. As Christians we know there is little as exciting as riding a motorcycle, as bikers we have discovered there is nothing as fulfilling as being a Christian.

The Bible tells us to go into the world and make disciples of all, the CMA strives to make a difference.
